Ordination
JCMI Conducts Ordination!
Ordination is an official recognition that a believer in Jesus Christ has answered the call to the five-fold ministry offices outlined in Ephesians 4:11. It heightens one’s desires and commitment to fulfill the Great Commission, winning souls and making disciples.
In Matthew 4:19, our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ explained the purpose of the call to ministry with specific focus. “And he said unto them, follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.” This is the precise mandate of every believer to become a fisher of men. It is the centrality of the discipleship process ordained by Jesus Christ and aimed to mature believers into fishers of men.
Later in scriptures Jesus Christ demonstrates that the special call to ministry requires a special recognition. In Luke 6:12, Jesus spent an entire night communing with the father. And when it was day, Jesus called out twelve from among his disciples and named them apostles. In other words, Jesus ordained the twelve as apostle (He gave them special recognition). We know it because in Acts 6, Peter said it was important for them to focus on the offices to which they were ordained by designating seven men filled with the Holy Spirit, integrity and wisdom to handle the administration of the assembly.
In Acts 12 and 13, we read about the ordination of Paul and Barnabas. The Scriptures say Paul (Saul) and Barnabas returned from Jerusalem when they had fulfilled their ministry along with John Mark. As they ministered to the Lord and fasted, the Holy Spirit said Paul (Saul) and Barnabas should be separated unto Him for ministry. They were prayed for and hands were laid on them, and they were sent – ordination.
Therefore, JCMI works with churches to win souls and disciple converts to maturity. And those who desire to be separated unto the Holy Spirit for his use in the five-fold ministry will be ordained, giving due recognition to fulfill the Great Commission, winning souls and making disciples.
